A Taste of Jamaica: Exploring the Trelawney Collection
Updated: Sep 24
Introduces the collection across cigars, chocolate, coffee and rum.
A collection designed to be explored
There is no single way to experience Jamaica. Its character can be found in music and art, in conversation and celebration, and just as vividly in what is brewed, poured, tasted and shared.
The Trelawney collection brings together five categories: cigars, chocolate, coffee, rum and tea. Each has been selected to complement the others while revealing something different about the variety and quality of Jamaican products.
Rather than simply assembling products on a shelf, the idea is to create different entry points into Jamaica, from the richness of dark chocolate and aged rum to the familiar ritual of morning coffee or an unhurried cigar.
Cigars: made for the moment
A cigar asks for something increasingly rare: time.
The Crowne Jamaica selection within the Trelawney collection ranges from light-to-medium profiles to fuller expressions, with Toro, Robusto, Torpedo and Churchill formats alongside double-wrap and flavoured options.
Across the range are tasting notes of leather, earth, roasted nuts and, in the darker expressions, coffee. Flavoured Toros extend the experience further with rum, cognac, vanilla, peach and coffee varieties.
It is a category built around ritual: the opportunity to slow down, settle into a conversation and appreciate the experience over time.
Chocolate: Jamaica in unexpected combinations
Chocolate may be the most playful part of the collection.
PURE Chocolate Jamaica pairs Jamaican cocoa with flavours that range from familiar to distinctly unexpected. Cinnamon and coffee sit alongside lemongrass, jerk seasoning, Worthy Park Rum and Scotch bonnet pepper. Elsewhere, coconut, ginger, sorrel, plantain, banana and sweet potato take chocolate in entirely different directions.
The result is a collection that makes tasting an act of discovery. Some bars emphasise the cocoa itself, including 75% and 84% dark chocolate, while others bring together flavours more immediately associated with the wider Jamaican table.
The Taste of Jamaica Gift Box captures that spirit particularly well, bringing six miniature chocolates together in combinations including lemongrass, cinnamon, Jamaican jerk spices, Blue Mountain coffee, Worthy Park Rum and roasted coconut.
Coffee: a different side of the island
For many people, coffee is an everyday ritual. Within the Trelawney collection, it also becomes another way to encounter Jamaica.
The range includes 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee alongside Marley Coffee expressions spanning light, medium, medium-dark and dark roasts. Whole-bean and ground formats offer different ways to explore the category, whether the preference is for something lighter and easy-going or a deeper roast.
Names such as Smile Jamaica, Soul Rebel, Buffalo Soldier, One Love and Lively Up also give the Marley Coffee range a cultural familiarity that extends beyond the cup.
Coffee occupies a natural place in the wider Trelawney experience. It can begin a morning, accompany chocolate, follow a meal or simply create the excuse to sit down and stay a little longer.
Rum: character developed over time
Few products express the importance of patience quite like aged rum.
Trelawney's current rum collection features four Appleton Estate expressions, aged for a minimum of eight, twelve and fifteen years, through to a blend of rums aged for at least twenty-one years.
Across the range, the experience grows in depth and complexity, creating an opportunity to explore how time influences flavour and character.
Rum also demonstrates what the collection is intended to communicate more broadly: that Jamaican products can carry long histories, traditions and layers of craftsmanship that deserve to be experienced rather than simply recognised.
Tea: another expression of the collection
The journey does not end with the four categories that first defined Trelawney's catalogue. Tea has since become part of the collection through Likkle Tea, adding another, quieter ritual to the experience.
The current selection includes Portland Bliss, a white tea; Coconut Pone, an oolong; and Banana Bread, a rooibos.
Its inclusion broadens the collection without changing its underlying idea: to present different products that can sit alongside one another while offering their own route into Jamaican flavour and culture.
One collection, many ways to discover Jamaica
What connects a cigar, a chocolate bar, a cup of coffee, an aged rum and a pot of tea?
For Trelawney, the answer is not simply where they sit in a catalogue. It is the experience around them: discovery, taste, craftsmanship, conversation and the stories each product can introduce.
Some are made for celebration. Others belong to quiet moments. Some are immediately familiar, while others invite you to try a combination you may never have considered before.
Together, they form a collection designed to reveal Jamaica gradually, one flavour, ritual and story at a time.
A taste of Jamaica is not one taste at all. It is an invitation to keep exploring.
